Howard and Louise Pinski mourn the loss of their adult son Norman, who was tragically struck down in his prime by a bolt of lightning. Luckily for the Pinskis, however, Joseph Vanderwal, a celebrated local baldness doctor, is secretly a modern-day Dr. Frankenstein. Quickly, Norman is resurrected in the form of a classic horror film monster and manages to escape from the doctor’s clutches. When the Pinskis come home one evening to find Norman sitting on the couch with a pair of metal bolts sticking out of his neck, they are more than a little shocked. Wracked with guilt over their failure as parents, and likening Norman’s primitive state of mind with that of a toddler, they rationalize their way around the bizarre circumstances and decide to take a second shot at raising him.
